NFC sensors

NFC, or Near Field Communication, is a wireless technology that allows information to be sent and received over short distances, typically within a radius of a few centimeters. This technology offers several advantages in a wide range of applications.

NFC sensors

Electronic pressure switches with display (display pressure switches) have been around for many years and are now available in various versions. Viewed in terms of the product life cycle, these products are now in the third phase of development: during the initial phase, new functions and designs took center stage, while cost-saving measures marked the second phase. In the current third phase, the devices are equipped with additional connectivity (communication capabilities) and partly with proprietary intelligence. Besides general technological developments, this development is mainly driven by the megatrends IoT (Internet of Things) and Industry 4.0, for consistent linking of machine sensors to the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system with the goal of "self-organized production.

While many companies focus on the connectivity of sensors and controls, mainly through the integration of communication interfaces and protocols, Trafag took a different route: the connection from the sensor to the human. Trafag consistently followed the mobile-first approach and placed the focus for parameterization of the display pressure switch on the smartphone app. In contrast to the integrated 3-button control with a 4-digit 7-segment display according to VDMA 24574-1, the smartphone app allows very fast and intuitive navigation through the parameterization via the graphical user interface. An integrated, configurable logger records the measured data, which can then also be transmitted to the smartphone via the app. In the industrial environment, these advantages of direct connection between humans and sensors via a smartphone can be used to increase efficiency and quality.

Here are some of the key benefits of NFC sensors:

Easy wireless communication: NFC sensors enable wireless communication with a simple touch or proximity to devices. This eliminates the need for physical connections or pairings, greatly increasing convenience.

Smart devices and IoT integration: NFC is increasingly being integrated into smart devices and the Internet of Things (IoT). It enables devices to communicate seamlessly with each other and makes it easy to connect and control them using mobile devices.
