Ex Zone 0:
An area where an explosive atmosphere is present continuously or for long periods of time, consisting of a mixture of hazardous substances with air in the form of gas, vapor or mist.
Ex Zone 1:
An area where an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of hazardous substances with air in the form of gas, vapor or mist is likely to occur occasionally during normal operation.
Ex Zone 2:
An area where an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur during normal operation, but if it does, it will only be for a short period of time.
Ex Zone 21:
An area where an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust is present in the air continuously or for long periods of time during normal operation.
Ex Zone 22:
An area where an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in the air is not likely to occur during normal operation, but if it does, it will only be for a short period of time.
